The best way to get to know your Library is to participate in a Library Orientation Session/Tour, or to take our Online Orientation. You can also know your way around the Library by taking an Online Library Tour.
We have handy and printable guides to selected resources and services of the Library for: students and staff.
The Library's website is your gateway to access information about the Library, such as: library news, opening hours, our floor plan and various collections and services.
The Library's Service Robot, called Sibob, is now on board! You will find Sibob greeting you as you enter the Library. With its wayfinding function, Sibob can guide you to specific library locations. Sibob can also help you get familiar with the library space by conducting library tours. Come and meet Sibob!
Your CityU ID card is required at all time to enter CityU Library, borrow Library items and use our facilities.
You need your EID in order to access and use a variety of Library resources, services and facilities. Sign in your Library Account using your Electronic ID (EID) and AD/LAN password, the same as those for university PCs.
In the Library, you may also need a USB drive for saving the resources that you find, and your Octopus card for photocopying and printing.
Always book ahead online to use the Library's facilities before coming to the Library! (refer to "Use facilities" below)
Use our CityU LibraryFind to find books, audiovisual materials, dissertations, journal titles, articles and more, collected by the Library.
The default scope is Books, Media & Articles+. You may select other scopes, such as Books & Media+ and Articles+, to suit your needs. To get started with CityU LibraryFind, refer to the Getting Started Tips.
On the result page, you can narrow the search results by Availability, Resource Type, or other options under Refine My Results (on the right side of screen).

Use our Library databases for content of specialist databases such as law information and company and financial data. To select the appropriate databases to use, refer to this short video.
Findit@CityU with Google Scholar tells you whether your search results in Google Scholar are available within the Library's subscription. If yes, the "Findit@CityU" link will be displayed next to the search result. You can then access the full text of the resource.
This function is automatic if you use Google Scholar within campus. If you want to use it from off campus, you need to reset your Web browser the first time you use it. To learn more, refer to Findit@CityU in Google Scholar.
Loan periods and quotas vary by user type. Remember to return or renew materials on time. Fines will be charged for late return materials. All checked-out books are subject to recall.
Book recall - Requesting a checked-out item
You can recall a checked-out book by placing a request on the CityU LibraryFind. When the book you have checked-out is recalled by another user, a recall notice providing the new due date will be sent to you via email. The new due date will overide the original due date.
My Library Account, Library correspondence, EasyService
In your Library Account, you can view the details of your current loans and requests. You can also renew your checked-out books online. Select "My Library Account" on the Library Homepage or select "Sign In" from CityU LibraryFind to login your Library Account using your EID and AD/LAN password (refer to "Be prepared" above). Refer to the My Library Account research guide to learn more about how to manage your My Library Account.
All our Library correspondence, including pre-overdue, recall and material pickup notices, will be sent to your CityU email account. If you do not use this account, please set up email forwarding to your preferred email address.
EasyService (self-service) is available in the Library! Most circulating materials can be checked out by yourselves using our EasyService applications.
