The SDG Explorer consists of eight tabs:

  • Overview: Provides a snapshot of CityUHK's SDG-related research outputs, including total publications, the top three SDG research areas and annual publication volume. Users can utilize filters to explore outputs by publication year or individual SDGs.

  • Research Outputs: Displays publication details, including title, output type, year, authors, and citation metrics. Publications are sorted by Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) by default, with options to sort by other fields. Users can search by output type, title, and FWCI.

  • Open Access: Illustrates the percentage of open access (OA) versus non-OA publications for each SDG, along with OA trends such as Gold, Green, and Bronze OA for each output year. It also provides details and metrics for OA publications, with filtering options by output type, OA color, title and FWCI.

  • Collaboration: Presents an interactive map of CityUHK’s SDG collaboration network. Larger dots indicate a higher number of collaborative publications from specific places. Users can select a place to view the number of publications and their details.

  • Author Keywords: Showcases prominent keywords defined by authors in the SDG publications. Similar to the collaboration tab, larger text indicates a greater number of publications related to that keyword. Users can retrieve associated publications for each keyword.

  • Top Journals: Lists the top 10% of journals by CiteScore in which the SDG publications are published, along with their ISSN and subject with percentile. Users can filter by ASJC subject areas and specific journals, and explore publications within each journal.

  • Policy Impact: Tracks the real-world influence of CityUHK research by showcasing mentions and citations of SDG publications in policy documents, sourced from Overton. This illustrates how research informs decision-making and shapes policies for sustainable development. Users can click the icon in the “Policy Details” column to retrieve the policy documents that cite the research output.

  • News and Patent Impact: Monitors mentions and citations of SDG publications in news articles and patents, sourced from Altmetric. Users can view mention and citation details by clicking on the numbers in the "Altmetric News Mentions" or "Altmetric Patent Citations" columns.

The CityUHK Sustainable Development Goals Impact Explorer offers a comprehensive and user-friendly platform to explore and understand the University’s impactful research on global sustainability challenges. By providing detailed insights into research outputs, collaborations, open access status, and real-world policy and societal impacts, the SDG Explorer empowers users to appreciate how CityUHK contributes to advancing the SDGs both academically and beyond. You are invited to explore the platform and discover the valuable role CityUHK plays in fostering sustainable development worldwide.
