ORCID Creation and Integration Exercise at CityU (New Faculty Members)

To ensure accuracy in the research processes and that our researchers are correctly associated with their research publications, the University would like all researchers to participate in the ORCID Creation and Integration Exercise.

The Exercise involves two parts:

Part 1: Creating / Reporting ORCID iD (via CityU Scholars) *

Part 2: Integrating ORCID iD with Scopus Author ID (if any)

* For researchers who completed the Exercise before the launch of CityU Scholars, please take one step further to integrate your CityU Scholars account with your ORCID iD so that CityU Scholars will update your ORCID publication list automatically during your affiliation with CityU. (see ORCID Auto-Update Setup).

ORCID Creation and Integration Exercise

Completing Part 1 - Creating / Reporting ORCID iD (via CityU Scholars) [go top]

Steps:

  1. You will receive an invitation email from the Library

  2. Please login to your CityU Scholars researcher profile (with your EID and AD/LAN password) and follow the instructions on the following user guides:

  •  user guide (for those without an ORCID iD)

  •  user guide (for those already have an ORCID iD)

Benefits:

  1. You will have an ORCID iD (if you do not already have one) for manuscript submission that helps resolve author name ambiguity

  2. Your ORCID iD will be shown on your CityU Scholars researcher profile. You don't need to memorize it.

  3. The publication list in your ORCID record will be automatically updated with validated research output records exported from CityU Scholars on the next day (or immediately with "Export" button clicked) upon the completion of Part 1 and hereafter on a daily basis during your affiliation with CityU.

  4. Web of Science will automatically scan your ORCID record (with visibility set as public) to look for matched publications, grab your ORCID iD to enrich the matched publication records in its database to enable searching of your Web of Science publications with your ORCID iD.

CityU Scholars - ORCID Integration and Web of Science

Completing Part 2 - Integrating ORCID iD with Scopus Author ID (if any) [go top]

Steps:

  1. It will take some time for the Library to verify your Scopus author ID/profile (if any) and do the necessary cleanup and merging.

  2. If you do have a Scopus author ID/profile, you will be contacted again by the Library to finish Part 2 at a later stage with reference to the user guide.

Benefits:

  1. Scopus Author ID is a proprietary author ID used by Scopus only. Integrating your ORCID iD with your Scopus Author ID enables Scopus to recognize you through your ORCID iD.

  2. This enables searching of your work in Scopus with your ORCID iD.
