CityUHK Has Entered the ESI Top 1% for Research Fields in Microbiology and Pharmacology & Toxicology

The Essential Science Indicators (ESI) is an analytical tool that identifies top-performing research in the Web of Science Core Collection. Covering data from over 11,000 journals across 22 research fields, ESI ranks authors, institutions, countries, and journals. Updated bimonthly with a rolling 10-year dataset, it serves as a key benchmark for research impact and excellence. 

In 2025, CityUHK was recognized in 17 research fields that ranked in the top 1% of the ESI. Compared to the 2024 list, Microbiology and Pharmacology & Toxicology have made their debut in the ESI Top 1%. Additionally, five of these research fields have achieved exceptional performance, ranking within the Top 0.1% of ESI Research Fields.
