Legislation in England is made up of:

  • Statutory instruments

Legislation in other parts of the UK

  • Scotland and Northern Ireland enact their own laws on certain topics via the Scottish Parliament and the Northern Ireland Assembly, respectively.
  • Wales, while not having a separate legal system, can also enact some of its own laws through the National Assembly for Wales. The English and Wales legal/court systems are considered together, such that the single jurisdiction contains the law of “England and Wales”.
