Good news for CityU users! You now have access to Altmetric Explorer for CityU, a Library-subscribed tool that leverages Altmetric data. Altmetric is a widely recognized alternative metric that captures online mentions of research outputs from diverse sources such as news, social media, patents, policy documents, multimedia platforms, and blogs. By tracking these mentions, Altmetric Explorer offers valuable evidence to demonstrate the impact of research beyond traditional academic measures.

The evidence provided by Altmetric Explorer is twofold. Firstly, it offers quantitative information through Altmetric Scores, which quantify the attention and engagement received by research outputs. Secondly, it provides qualitative insights by offering links to the mentioning sources. These links allow researchers to delve deeper into understanding the "who", "what", "why", and "where" of their research impact, enabling them to trace the broad reach and influence of their work.

Altmetric Explorer has been integrated with CityU Scholars, which provides verified authors, departments, and research output records. Researchers are strongly encouraged to make use of the tool to track their online footprint. Refer to the Library Guide on Altmetric Explorer for CityU to explore its search and analytics features, and generate reports within CityU or the entire Altmetric database.

Also, come and join a Library Researcher Webinar on Thursday, 16 May 2024, 3:00 pm - 4:40 pm. Our expert and professional librarians will guide you through Altmetric Explorer for CityU and introduce you to Overton and Lens.org. These tools will help you unleash your research impact beyond the academic discourse. For more information and registration, please click here.
