What is EndNote?

EndNote is a citation management tool you can use to store and manage references, and generate citations and a bibliography in your academic papers.

With EndNote you can:

  • Create a personal library of searchable references
  • Insert citations into a Word document in a preferred style or in a format required by a journal.
  • Generate a bibliography automatically
  • Add available full text to references in your library
  • Share your library of references with fellow researchers

EndNote Desktop

Runs on both the Windows and Mac platforms and can be be downloaded to your computer/laptop. The program and your citations are stored locally on your computer. Includes a range of sophisticated functions.

EndNote Online

This web based version of EndNote gives you access to your library from anywhere with an internet connection. You can use it as a stand alone or in conjunction with EndNote Desktop. It has a more limited range of features than the Desktop.
