EndNote

Create an EndNote library

To start using EndNote, you'll need to create a library to store your references.

  • Launch EndNote Desktop and select Create a new library or go to File > New. The default name of the new library will be My EndNote Library, but you can rename it if you prefer.
  • The new library will be automatically saved in the Documents folder on your computer*.
  • Ensure that the .enl file and .DATA folder are always stored together.

*Note: You may select a folder on your computer's local drive to save the EndNote library. However, avoid saving the library to any USB drive, network drive/shared server, cloud-syncing folder, or cloud drive, as this can result in damage to the EndNote library. For further details, refer to EndNote: Few reasons why the library may get damaged frequently

Tip: It is recommended to keep all your references in a single library. To organize your library, use Groups and Tags.
